sweaters, vests, and duck boots oh my!

So last night, when I got home from the long day I had I wanted to do some mindless pinning on Pinterest- recipes, clothes, the casual entire wedding (I don't even believe in marriage but I can't help myself sometimes- the dresses, the cakes, the fun gifts to give the bridal party really get me), cute puppies, funny eCards...Ladies, you know the deal.

These past couple of days have been so rainy and my apartment seemed to have dropped 10 degrees without actually moving from it's set 75, which has led me to have the worst Fall Fever I've had in a couple years. Not to mention, on my way back to work from lunch yesterday, I came across this little flock of Canada Geese that has already flown down for the winter...taking their sweet ass time crossing the road... But it was totally fine. I was in awe of how gorgeous they are, and really miss living in Virginia when we could look outside to find our entire yard covered in these beautiful creatures.

Oh memory lane... Anyyyyyyyway.
Since I did go on a pinning rampage last night (sorry to all my followers), I found some really adorable things! My mentality last night seemed to be:
EVERYTHING COLD WEATHER CLOTHES.
MUST. PIN. ALL. THINGS. COLD. WEATHER. RELATED.

I have never in my life been a "plaid person", but since last fall/winter I've had my eye out for the perfect plaid button down. I used to despise "plaid people" (like they're their own breed of human or something), as I want to avoid looking like a hill billy or a grunge rocker at all costs, but I think when done right (such as the one featured above), it can look very preppy and put together. I tend to like jewel tones- deep reds, navy's, emerald/hunter greens versus bright colors and black (the hated "plaid people" favorites).
A few weeks ago, I purchased this AMAZING J.Crew Quilted Vest (sold out, but other colors found here) from the Destin J.Crew Outlets. I can.not.wait for it to get cold enough for me to wear this- this also might be my literal favorite color. If you've never noticed, Creams, tans, whites, chocolates aka neutral monochromatic are my favorite go-to color schemes to wear. They go with everything!

XOXO, Gossip Girl

xoxo
Gossip Girl

A common signature for a show I have never in my life seen. (I know, I know... what?!)
SO.
this leads me to....... gossip.
It hurts, we all do it. So why
What possesses humans to do just that?
I'm guilty of it- I've gossiped more times than I'm willing to admit (hello, born and raised in the SOUTH)
But still- boggles my mind why people, including myself, do this.
We never react well to discovering others have gossiped about us- we are offended, hurt, and feel betrayed.
So why inflict that on another person and continue the cycle?
I'm an overly honest person, I speak my mind constantly which does get me in trouble more often than not (filter Kaleigh... Remember the filter) but I can at least always own that I have no fear of speaking MY truth.
Hm.
Disagreements and arguments are always really uncomfortable for me- I am a feisty little girl, but when it comes down to my core, it eats me up. I guess I've softened in my old age. If I typically feel as though someone is not living up to my expectations, has really let me down, crossed me, or I am aware that I have upset them...
I talk to them.
[what a concept right?]
They might not want to hear it, or they might not be receptive to it.
But at least I can get right with myself that I attempted to reach a place of peace, or at the very least have freed my ugly inner thoughts.
I wish more people could have that same courage, you really have nothing to lose- just anxiety from thinking negative thoughts or anxiety of being overhead/caught.
This sounds like I'm preaching to others, and I'm the last person that needs to be saying anything about what others should be doing.
I want to be as transparent as possible and this is advice to myself.
I really want to make a conscious effort in my life to tone down the gossiping. It's only a matter of time (hours, minutes, seconds) until I'm presented with an opportunity to partake in gossiping, but in light of my journey to happiness, I want to make a wholehearted effort to treat others as they wish to be treated.
And no one wants to be gossiped about.

Just the thoughts of the day.

Today is Friday (praise the Lord), and the end to a flop of a week.
Professional life- see ya for a few days.
I need a break from you.

I'm looking forward to a night of fun and laughter tonight at Downtown Get Down with people that make me really happy.
I'm looking forward to being reunited with my best friend, Caitlin (who is making the trip from Jacksonville with her new man friend that I am beyond excited to meet), on Saturday. Also excited for another game day full of tailgating fun and victory.
I'm looking forward to Sunday to get back to a place of "zen" that has seemed to have been lost on this week.

I hope yalls weekends are just as fabulous.

Love,
K

Way Out West- Tallahassee

LUKE BRYAN FARM TOUR IS COMING UP.
October 11th, 2013
22 days...to be exact.

I've already purchased my dress for this years farm tour. It's so adorable! It couldn't be more "Kaleigh Farmer"- a peachy pink color, white crochet detailing, and a figure flattering tie-waist.
You can find it at this adorable boutique in town, Way Out West.
I could not believe I hadn't been in there before last week!

They have the cutest clothes for events/concerts like this, Game Day, or if you're just looking to spruce up your wardrobe with a southern flare.
All the girls in the store are super helpful when it comes to finding something perfect you're looking for, from getting different sizes to suggestions.
They have a huge selection of cute cowboy boots- which I'm definitely in the market for a lighter brown/tan pair than ones I currently have.
I will be making a stop back in sometime in the very near future.
Last week, I also purchased a garnet bubble necklace (which has been surprisingly difficult to find in town so I was ecstatic when I came across it; its the perfect shade of garnet) along with the dress I wore to the FSU vs. Nevada game. I was so thankful for how breathable the material the dress is made up of was, as it was beyond sweltering outside.
Guess my hair is a little long and covering up the necklace, but you get the idea. Time for a cut perhaps?

They are constantly uploading photos to Facebook, tweeting, and uploading photos to Instagram of all of their latest arrivals and newest floor items! I love being kept up to date on what they're doing!

Phillip Lim, you escape me

Today is a new day!
I woke up in a spectacular mood!
So sometimes I really do think the Big Man hears you when you need him to listen.
Carpe Diem, right?

After work yesterday, Morgan and I went to Target to check out the Phillip Lim Launch... EVERYTHING was sold out or picked over! I couldn't believe it because their merchandise had only arrived Sunday night! I was very torn over this handbag, but that shade of taupe/grey just isn't quite my style.

Now had the plum or black been available it would be permanently attached to my arm today.

You again, Monday?

Well. It's definitely Monday.
I usually hate when people say that, it's not really any different than any other day of the week...
But from waking up completely exhausted to personal life mishaps, I'd say this is a Monday.

I keep this blog to remember moments like this, when I feel really defeated with people. I had an amazing weekend surrounded by positive, happy people that choose to be around me.
I have gotten discouraged today by the behavior of some people that desperately want to break my spirit (that I have purposefully kept out of my life after promising myself in a New Years Resolution to rid my life of negativity), by those that I adore have just been using thoughtless words to essentially stir a pot that did not need it, or by those that have disappointed me with their lack of support in my effort to "do the right thing".
So, for my benefit I am going to recap this weekend and bring my spirits back up.
Maybe this will thicken my skin a little too.
Life is far too short to let a perfectly good day feel like a "Monday".

Downtown Get down
What a blast! I don't think in college I had ever taken full advantage of how fun it is- I was always at a bar either downtown or closer to FSU property for Happy Hour.
Morgan and I arrived, enjoyed a nice adult refreshment and walked around to see everything. It's a really nice feeling of community- something I absolutely enjoy being a part of.
Only negative- it was as hot as Haiti.
I enjoyed the sunset outside of Harrys (click here to check them out- yummy food!) after putting in a reservation at 101 (also click here to check them out- I'm a regular of theirs from my college time, but even more so now that I work directly across the street from their location..Their food and drinks are super great, with a totally fun atmosphere). We were seated outside, which was actually great because the sun had gone down so the weather was enjoyable. Downtown Get Down also has live entertainment in the plaza of the Tallahassee Center, so we got to enjoy that without dealing with the crowd or standing. My young brother plays for Big 8 Drumline, so I was able to get a front row glance at their performance. Between the good company, good music and entertainment, and good drinks I'm not sure I could have been any happier.
There is Kiernan, next to center snare, which is his "Big".
Morgan and I outside of 101

Sarah McLachlan ain't got nothin on me

Sometimes when I think about my family and how many animals we've rescued...
It's really like a farm.

I'll never forget a girl my mom would nanny for that was friends with my brother growing up (they were toddlers then) was so disappointed when she came to our house for the first time (this is back when we lived in Virginia) and there were no farm animals anywhere...
"But yall are Farmers... Where are the animals?"
So cute right?

Well, Kaelyn, your dream came true.
Two cats, Two dogs, a fish AND a horse.
What?!

For Throwback Thursday today, I was looking through my photo album on my iPhone and kept finding all these photos of our beautiful horse, Rhett.

Rhett has a really special story that can make me tear up at times.
December 16th, 2012 he became a rescue horse at RVR Horse Rescue. He originally came from another "rescue" that was taking donations, using the money for other things, and essentially starving him to death. They had found him wandering aimlessly prior to being placed in that rescue.
December 16th, 2012 changed my life.
It was the very first day my mom and I traveled to this horse rescue we had heard about to simply just check it out. She had been conversing with the owner, Shawn who I now ADORE, but we didn't see her when we arrived.
A woman named Kit found us wandering up the front drive and gave us a tour of the ranch; showed us all the horses and told us their stories of how they got here, what their personalities were like, what progress they were making, and so on.
We made our way through the rescue side, the adopted side, and then to the round pen where all the brand new rescues are placed when they first arrive.
That is when I met Rhett.

So Long Sweet Summertime

I really can't believe that summer is coming to end, it's already SEPTEMBER!!!

Where has the time gone?! So much has happened, so I'll recap on some fun adventures!

SEASIDE
Where do I even begin? As soon as I make my fortune, I'm dropping everything and moving here. It's the perfect little beach town I've ever laid eyes on. Couldn't be more my style Florida meets Nantucket. A friend, Caroline, took me to all the cutest places- we drove over early in the morning, stopped for lunch at The Great Southern (check them out- AMAZING food), walked around and shopped, hit the beach for some tanning time, did a little more shopping and looked around at the coolest artwork and bookstore then had dinner at Bud and Alley's on the water (talk about a perfect view!) We obviously couldn't leave without stopping in Watercolor (the town immediately next to Seaside) without watching the most beautiful sunset in the softest white sand I've had between my toes in quite some time.

My yummy lunch- the Smoked Gouda Grits were my favorite part, along with the grilled Gulf Shrimp!
Happy Farm
 The cutest place for lunch!
 enjoying the salt water
gorgeous Watercolor sunset- Isn't this stunning?!
So breathtaking

Like I said... I'm moving there and never coming back. Just something so peaceful and relaxing about getting away from the hustle and bustle of daily life... The ocean will always be able to wash over my soul until the day I die; it's certainly a place I go to rejuvenate and clear my heart and mind.
